Gasper, one of the Georgia Aquarium’s five prized beluga whales, was euthanized Monday morning. The 17-year-old whale had been ill before arriving at the aquarium in October 2005. Apparently, Gasper had a weakened immune system due to years of chronic illness. His health had deteriorated further over the past few weeks. The aquarium’s veterinarian team decided to humanely euthanize the animal. R.I.P. Gasper!
