Yeah, Those Are Sharks

Just a little reminder in case you’re planning on dipping your toes in the Florida waters this winter. This picture of was taken just north of the Fort Pierce Inlet on Dec 26. The Sheriff’s office said they saw more than 100 bull sharks feeding close to shore that day. Like I said, just a reminder…

They were hoping for a belated Christmas Dinner
a little shakin’, a little tenderizin’, and down you go…
oh my god
a wee bit close to shore eh? and yet i bet from the shore you had no idea they were there, just waiting!
Holy God, that’s chilling to see. How far do you think those sharks are from the shore. I can’t tell with how far away the photo was taken. I have to know.
Kathie—I was there at the time these sightings occurred and can tell you that they were close enough for the beaches to fly purple flags for 3 days (translation: dangerous marine life present—use extreme caution)–but not close enough (I guess) to close the beaches. Needless to say other than a few crazy surfers…the surf was devoid of swimmers. It was very cold in Florida those 3 days fyi…mid 40’s to high 50’s…life guards say the crazy temps have really screwed up the sea life–they have seen more sharks (and portuguese men of war/blue bottles in this area in the past few years than they ever have. I obviously bring bad luck to the region…in addition to this shark swarm, I was on the beach fairly near this one when a 9 year old boy was killed by a bull shark over a decade ago (he was only up to his ankles–bullshark came in with a small wave– and his dad saw the whole thing–body was missing for a day—then body parts washed up near same spot the next day!)…thus my very real (and understandable) shark phobia…I’ve seen too much…won’t go in those waters.
Oh dear, there’s at least a dozen of them just on that picture, who knows how many more there could be further… Best not to court danger and stay out of the water when there are that many sharks around.
