Smugglers Toss Refugees to Sharks

Knife-wielding smugglers forced 450 Somalis and Ethiopians overboard into stormy seas along a remote stretch of Yemen coastline at Ras-Alkalb in the Gulf of Aden last Thursday. The smugglers forced their passengers overboard so they could make a speedy departure after being spotted by Yemeni security forces. The number of people confirmed dead has risen to 29. Seventy-one people are missing. Passengers who resisted the smugglers were stabbed or beaten with wooden and steel clubs, then thrown overboard where some were attacked by sharks!

Oh my God! Its hard to believe anything like this can happen in the world today.
RIP victims.
Feeding refugees/stowaways to sharks happens all the time…it seems like an easier alternative to having them on your ship when you enter port. Thats just not cool.
When you see such horror like this, it puts into perspective that human beings are the true barbaric monsters here…not the sharks….I echo Brenda Love’s sentiments—”RIP victims”….sad.
Ugh. How does someone do something like this?
