Tidbit Was Preggers… and there Were No Males Around

Veterinarians were surprised to find that Tidbit (the female shark that died last week after she was given sedatives when she bit an aquarium worker) was pregnant when they performed a necropsy.
And get this… the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Sciences Center has no male black tipped sharks. Hmmm….

Poor tidbit….she just didn’t want anyone getting near her preggy shark-belly! And..what kind of name is Tidbit for a SHARK?
Its was recently found that a lot of female sharks can reproduce asexually. Fascinating and wishfully thinking there may be a way around extinction in these cases.
