Two Men Arrested for Harassing Dolphin

Two men were arrested Saturday on suspicion of harassing a dolphin known locally as “Dave” off the Kent coast in southeast England, police said.
Officers arrested the men, aged 25 and 26, at dawn after numerous emergency calls from the public that the animal was being harassed.
The dolphin has become a local tourist attraction over the past year after making his home in the waters off the Sandgate shore. But it has also attracted unwelcome attention from jet skiers and sailors, prompting Kent Police’s Maritime Unit to warn offenders they face fines and even prison.
Kent Police Inspector Gavin Roy said people should not try to touch the animal or get within 100 yards of it.
Don’t worry, I won’t get anywhere near it.

It is so nice when I read a story about people caring a critter more than themselves. I loved this story, I only hope that “Dave” was okay.

I think people ( not the ones who know a lot about ocean enviorments, and animals, but people who are so damn stupid) REALLY NEED TO KNOW A FEW THINGS….
1) DOLPHINS CAN BITE, THEY’RE NOT TAMED, AND SOME ARE OUT OF CONTROL
2) dolphins are graceful creatures and usually gentle, but when they are threatened by man in the wild, they get nasty. They bite, though it is not like a huge sharks’ bite, but strong enough to HURT LIKE HELL.
So, you people who treat the ocean like shit, and a waste of time, the animals who live in there are what keeps the ocean alive. They protect it, they kill others ( prey and sometimes us, this goes for sharks, rarely) They even keep us alive, without them, it wouldn’t be safe for many animals including humans ( land animals) So treat the animals and the ocean with respect, though we are entering territories of aniamals’ homes we blame it on them but we have to know WE’RE SWIMMING WITH NATURE, AND NATURE BITES, IT LURKS, IT KILLS, IT DOESN’T GIVE A DAMN IF YOU DIE OR LIVE, FOR THE OCEAN THINGS ARE LEFT WITH MYSTERY WHICH IS WHY WE CARE LESS AND SAY ” WHAT THE HELL!” AND GO FOR A SWIM. ( SORRY IT’S LONG!)

i dont see why everybody is jumping to conclusions. nobody knows whether or not they did it. there is a lady who was filming with her phone from the flats opposite showing that they wernt hurting the dolphin in any kind of way. my dad spoke to the men in a bar and apparently the dolphin swan upto them and wanted some attention.
