Avila Beach Reopens… But I Wouldn’t Go In the Water

Avila and Port San Luis beaches have reopened just in time for the July 4 holiday after a shark sighting last week led to closures.
Last Wednesday, a boater spotted a 15-foot shark between the two piers.
In 2003, the district adopted a mandatory water closure policy after a great white shark attacked and killed a woman as she was swimming with seals off Avila Beach.
This scenario sounds very familiar (JAWS), and we all know what happened then…
