Man Catches Piranha in NC River

Jerry Melton was fishing in the Catawba River in Gaston County, NC when he reeled in a fish with a rather odd bite. Turned out that fish was a 1 pound, 4 ounce piranha.
Melton said he didn’t know what he had caught until a fellow fisherman told him.
“Actually, there was a guy down there and he said ‘that might be a piranha’, and, you know, I said… ‘that ain’t no piranha… they ain’t got piranha around here’,” said Melton.
Piranhas are illegal to possess in North Carolina. A wildlife officer said whoever owned the piranha probably dumped it in the river when they got tired of it.

That fish is NOT a piranha. It is a pacu. They are related to piranhas, so they look simular. Believe me, if that was a piranha, the tip of his thumb would be bleeding.
Yea I agree with felix, it has flat teeth that look like human teeth thats a pacu. Can get them at any local fish store.
Yes, I aslo agree. Piranhas have a chemical reaction with their mouth. When something touches it’s mouth, it will atomatically bite, so if that was a piranha, that guy would probably have a stump for a thumb.
Again, not a piranha. If this was a piranha, trust me, the guy would put his thumb no where near that mouth.
dude thats a shark lmfao
