Volusia County is Shark Bite City

A Casselberry teen became this year’s fifth shark bite victim in Volusia County on Thursday afternoon.

Chaz Cecil, 18, was surfing about a half-mile south of the Ponce de Leon Inlet about 4 p.m. when he was nipped on the right foot.

“This is a pretty typical Volusia County bite,” spokesman Capt. Scott Petersohn said. “A couple of small lacerations to the top of the foot.”‘

Cecil was taken to Bert Fish Medical Center by ambulance, where he was treated for the wound. Get well soon, Cecil!
