Shark Attacks Boy in Australia – UPDATE

Friday’s victim, Angus Chapman, had just finished snorkeling when he was bitten on the leg three times by what he says was a bronze whaler shark. The 15-year-old Perth school boy says he’s glad he was attacked and not his six-year-old brother.
The teenager sustained severe lacerations and tendon and muscle damage. He was flown to Perth and underwent three hours of surgery yesterday.
He says he had his brother next to him during the attack and says he is glad he thought to punch the shark in the nose.
“If I didn’t punch it, then I would have lost my leg and if it got my brother, then he probably would have died, which is a lot worse,” he said.
However, a local dive instructor is questioning whether it was a shark that attacked the teenager, saying a barracuda may be responsible.
