Set your Tivos! Discovery Channel’s Shark Week kicks off this Sunday with over 130 hours of shark shows. The week will be filled with eight all-new specials like Shark Feeding Frenzy (July 31, 9-10 PM) and Top 5 Eaten Alive (July 30, 10-11 PM), plus top-rated shark programs from the past — taking over the network’s entire weekly schedule every day from 9AM to 3AM (ET/PT) between Sunday, July 29 and Saturday, August 4. That’s a whole lotta sharks!

I’ll be watching that pretty much all week.
Starting things off with “Ocean of Fear”.
    O yeah.

Ya know…they yap about how we’re killing sharks left and right, they’re endangered, more sharks are eaten by people than the other way around…all these attempts at conservation…

Then they produce, “Feeding Frenzy” and “Top 5 Eaten Alive”?

Discovery Channel used to be about entertainment AND education. They’ve totally sold out.

No thanks…I’ll aim my TiVo elsewhere.

Loki – It’s possible to be both fascinated at the killing power of sharks and interested in their preservation. More attention to sharks (and other potentially endangered species) is good.

Can’t wait – best week of TV of the year.

Yeah blanding down over the years is what made Shark Week sucky. Well, that and linking it to their other franchise shows (remember the execrable “Mythusters” year?).

Related note: is that Survivor Dude at the table in the pic?

I agree that Shark Week has gotten pretty boring over the past few years…just checked out Ocean of Fear…not bad….they need to keep up with new programming (like this) and more updated shark attack profiles…that’ll keep me tuned in

I agree that Shark Week has gotten boring, over-hyped and over-dramatized. My family used to look forward to this all year, but they are dropping out and changing channels one by one. Example: the “Ocean of Fear” show on Sunday: dragged out, too many commercials, not much new information, and at the end we are told that most of the Indianapolis deaths were not shark-related. A waiste of 2 hours.
