Fiji Man Gets Triple Teamed by Sharks!

A Fiji man was spearfishing when 3 sharks attacked him at once! The victim was Rutu Meli and his arm was completely mangled. Luckily, Newport Beach dentist Tom Rolfes was vacationing on the remote island. Rolfes wasn’t used to working on arms, but he grabbed his medical kit and gave the man around 200 stitches, saving his life. Here’s the damage:

Wow…but what about infection? Thought you had to really clean that wound out (shots of antibiotics, etc) before you stitched up….maybe he did that….no doctors around I guess….wild.
ok..I withdraw my earlier comment…read the article and see he had antibiotics and there wasn’t a hospital around for miles…pretty heroic.
That’s cool. That dentist could make a living hanging around beaches in Volusia county just stitchin’ ‘em up.
