Shark Attack Looking Fishy

A 19-year-old man attacked by what was initially thought to be a shark on the Gold Coast, AU forced the closure of three beaches this morning.

David Weale suffered a small bite wound on the thigh while standing in about 3 feet of water. He felt a pain in his leg and grabbed onto something biting his leg, before it slipped away.

Despite his fears it may have been a shark, chief lifesaver Warren Young said it now appeared more likely to have been something less deadly.

It was a 1 to 2 foot fish, but evidence is pointing toward it being a barracuda rather than a shark.

Whatever it was, it had teeth.
