Holy Shark Bait! Shark Rips Off Teen’s Hand in Brazil!
A shark ripped off the right hand of a teenager swimming along the coast of northeastern Brazil!
The Pernambuco state fire department said 14-year-old Wellington dos Santos was attacked on Sunday after he swam beyond a coral reef that keeps sharks away from the beach of Piedade (near the state capital, Recife).
Lifeguards rescued dos Santos and rushed him to a hospital, where he was reported to be in critical but stable condition.
Besides severing dos Santos’ hand, the shark “bit off a large chunk of his buttocks.” Yeouch!
According to the fire department, people insist on ignoring the signs posted warning of the danger of shark attacks, especially beyond the coral reefs about 490 feet from the beach.
The attack was the 51st since authorities started keeping count in 1992. Sharks have killed 19 people in Pernambuco state over the past 15 years.

what an idiot! you see a sign about a known killer – you obey it. you don’t go splashing around! if the kid sees a hot pot of water boiling on the stove and knows its hot and is told its hot, my guess is he would plunge his other hand in it just to see.
