Doctors Unable To Reattach Boy’s Arm…
Doctors were unable to reattach the arm of the 11-year-old boy who was attacked by an alligator after the limb was retrieved from the reptile’s belly.
Ochsner Hospital surgeons tried to reattach Devin Funck’s left arm, which had been rushed to the New Orleans hospital after its recovery about three-and-a-half hours after the attack, but family friend Cory Dunn said the effort was unsuccessful.
Devin was in stable condition last night.
An enormous alligator, dubbed “Big Joe” by residents, attacked Devin, biting off his arm at the shoulder.
Big Joe was found within half an hour of the attack, but it took another two-and-half hours to kill and land the big reptile, cut it open and retrieve the arm.
