Huge Tiger Shark Caught in Bermuda!

This fourteen and half foot, almost 900 pound tiger shark was caught about 12 miles from Bermuda’s shores by Michael Barnes and his son Scott.

Early rumors had been spreading that the monster shark was was reeled in just off the shores of Spanish Point, causing a tizzy among the locals. Barnes put the rumors to rest, assuring the public that the only reason it was photographed at Spanish Point was because that was where he towed it in.

But apparently tiger sharks do come around in July and August there’s quite a lot of them out there…

    What a shame.

The biggest fish I caught this weekend was a 12″ small mouth bass. Doesn’t even compare to this.

Bren, you are quickly becoming one of my heroes.

I think this is ridiculous. That’s two in a week. WHY?

It’s a disgrace that such things are still celebrated. Ruined my Friday evening.

Aren’t sharks important to our waters?? So why do we keep catching them and killing them for no apparent reason other then they think it is “fun”!!! People make me so freakin’ mad….no wonder all the sharks are attacking people we attack them turn about is fair game!!!

Ths shark was sold as food. What’s the problem?

  9. 9Sharky

    Problems:

    A. It is a threatened specie.

    B. Shark is the most mercury laden fish in the sea and should not be consumed for any reason. Shark flesh is steeped in urine and ammonia as well. In other words, Shark meat is poisonous.

I’m pretty sure the fish with the most mercury is the swordfish, but shark also has a high content. As far as the urine and ammonia, just mix in a little butter, garlic, lemon juice and you have one tasty threatened species!

Swordfish, Marlin, and Shark all have Mercury Levels off the charts. The rule of thumb is, the larger the predatory fish the higher the level of Mercury. Why? Because little fish all have a little mercury and sharks eat a lot of little fish. Mercury doesn’t break down and remains in the Shark’s system.

As for the butter, garlic, and lemon juice…those things will make anything tasty, you need not save them for threatened species. I’m pretty sure garlic, butter, and lemon would make Bengal Tiger or Panda Bears taste pretty good too.

Why would people catch a shark then kill it it has more claim on this earth then any human would they have been around way longer then us and they arent trespassing into Bermudas waters Bermudians are the ones who are trespassing into there waters like think about it would you like to be takin out of your territory to be killed…………I dont think so.
