WARNING! Makos Hanging Out Near Panama Beach!

A couple of local fishermen snagged an 11′ Mako shark night while fishing in Panama City beach, Florida.
Monday night, R.D. Foote and Rich Stulen the five hundred twenty-five pound Mako about one hundred yards offshore. Foote owns and operates R.D.’s Sharkin Safaries and says this is his 32nd shark (6′ or longer) he’s caught in the past year.
Foote said he saw three dark shadows in the water while he and his buddy were fishing. He said two of them swam off but the third one didn’t. And that’s when he felt a big tug on his rod.
Uh, that means there’s two more out there, right?

That’s more like it. Didn’t think makos swam that close to shore.
Thanks - Dave
makos smaikos
i love mako sharks
i think they look cool
isnt that a cousin to the great white????
I love the great white— the carcharodon carcharias — absolutely beautiful!
This would be far scarier if Makos posed any serious threat. SInce they don’t, it just becomes another story of harmless wildlife being killed for no valid reasons. Well, if you consider ignorance and testosterone poisoning reasons….
In reply to some misconceptions including Donna’s.
Number one this mako was put to good use as a food source for MANY people. IT WAS NOT WASTED AT ALL! I do NOT condone nor partisipate in the Waste of Wildlife!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most, 95%, of the sharks I catch are RELEASED ALIVE so I may attempt to catch the again as they grow.
I am a AVID Conservationist and I do work closely with Game and Fish to report all and any game violations that I see.
Sharks are beautiful and have they’re place in the biosphere and I respect this highly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Mako was 11 foot 2 inches and weighed a total of 720 lbs. I got 575 lbs of steaks off of the fish.
She was the smallest of the 3 Makos that came in that night. The other 2 were 13 and 16 foot! They came in on the first sand bar no more that 50-60 yards off of the beach!
Thanks you all! Hope to see you all on the beach.
Have a Great Day.
