Close Call For Aussie Lifeguard!

A lifeguard had a close encounter with a hammerhead shark after unknowingly swimming near it at Cronulla Beach yesterday.

The 31-year-old man was swimming between Cronulla and Eloura beaches about 11.30am when water police, who were patrolling the coast, noticed the shark swimming near him.

The lifeguard had no idea there was a shark swimming next to him, but luckily the police moved their boat between him and the shark and shooed it away from the lifeguard and the beach, out to sea.

Phew!
