Another One… Shark Attacks Teen Girl In Australia!

83998872
A girl was surfing with her cousin at Binalong Bay, in Tasmania’s north east when a 15 ft white pointer latched onto her leg yesterday.

The shark dragged the girl under the water twice before her cousin reached the scene on his surfboard and hit the animal until it to let go. Damn.

The cousin managed to pull the girl onto his surfboard and paddled her back to shore while the shark followed.

Seriously Australia…there is no prize for the most serious shark bite capital of the world.

  2. 2Meredith

This is so dumb…I don’t feel bad for her at all. She lives in Australia for one, one of the most shark infested waters, and two, she is surfing…making her look like a seal…DUH!!! She’s a fool.

  3. 3Rob

Thing is the beach’s they are surfing at are meant to be patrolled for a start. Secondly you think it’s dumb? COME HERE and live through the Summer Heat.. alot of Pools etc end up too crowded, we are suffering a Massive Drought in over 75% of the country. People want to cool off no rivers = Ocean.

Now honestly in my opinion if your in THEIR home and you get bitten then it’s YOUR fault.. not the sharks, given the state of the Waters in the world, the lack of Fish etc of course there gonna take what they an get. But saying she’s a fool for having a love of surfing is just plain stuipid… and if your from the USA maybe you should -check- which country has the Shark Attack Record.

  4. 4Meredith

Piss off rob you have no idea what you are saying

  5. 5Chelsea

FYI Robby your 3rd grade grammar school teacher would be very upset….

YOUR is something belonging to you
You’re from another country is you are

    There is a place
    Their determines possession
    They’re = They are

    LOL at you

  6. 6waz

A little girl goes surfing and gets attacked by a shark and you call her an idiot…you dont seem like a very compassionate person, Meredith.

I guess all people entering the sea anywhere in the world are idiots since sharks live in the ocean, right?

  7. 7Joel

Meredith, you yourself are the fool, which you have made incredibly clear.

Ignorance aside, shark attacks are far more common in US waters than they are in Australian waters… So accusing Australia of being “the most serious shark bite capital of the world” and “the most shark infested waters” is a rather misleading, bordering on downright untrue.

Humans are an unwelcome intruder in a shark’s home, this is simple fact. Thankfully, shark attacks are so ridiculously rare because sharks are, for the most part, not interested in consuming humans. Most ‘attacks’ occur from a shark’s sense of curiousity, in poor visibility or dirty water, or during freak weather patterns.

Unfortunately, sensationalist reporting, ignorance and horror stories have turned the ancient, graceful and efficient shark into a man-hunting bloodthirsty demon-fish.

Try thinking for yourself, instead of letting fear destroy a beautiful creature.

  8. 8Georgie

Chelsea, try actually responding to what people say instead of picking apart their grammar or spelling. Doing the latter makes you look like a petty fool.

I also agree with Joel and Rob, incase you didn’t figure that out already. Meredith’s statement is plainly idiotic.

  9. 9AJ

All I can say is, the cousin is one brave dude, good on him…

    PS: I surf… so therefore I am an idiot…wicked.

  10. 10Smelsworst

    i am a shark!!!!

i’m going to eat meredith because she’s a dipshit.
watch out meredith, in australia sharks even exist in the sewers!!

im coming to bite your arse..

    *chomp chomp chomp*

  11. 11akmad

merideth u r an ignornt septic tank yank, and need to die u.i hope a shark rips u apart

  12. 12Chris

Firstly, I agree that sharks shouldn’t stop you from surfing – it’s a calculated risk and if people were that cautious they wouldn’t live their life. The chances of getting attacked are probably somewhere near the chances of getting killed in a plane crash but if you didn’t fly that wouldn’t seriously limit the places you could visit.
Secondly, I don’t agree with what Meredith said Akmad, but just because you’re behind the safety of the internet doesn’t give you the right to tell someone they “need to die” for making a foolish statement.

  13. 13Al

Yo, bruddas and sistas……WATCH SHARKWATER! Some of these retarded statements made here will be clarified after watching this.

Sharks are the world’s most endangered and I daresay, most important species for the ocean. See the stats on this movie, sharks are the last of our worries.

  14. 14Krissy

Living in Australia is the best thing ever. If you live in the U.S then that just sucks. The only place you can go to find a nice beach is like California, Hawaii, or Florida. If you live here then every time you walk out your door it is bright, sunny, and much beautiful than the United States. And Meredith I hope that you get bit by a shark someday so I can hear about it, and laugh.

  15. 15Shadow

Man.. Shark Attacks Happen everywhere. so everybody just chill out.
it isnt anybodys fault for getting attack.
so to all you surfers just be careful and have fun.

  16. 16allison

did u know that most bull shark atttacks happen in Florda???????

  17. 17Ellah

Ahem, the girls not an idiot, nice try Meridith. The Shark Bite Capital of the World is not Austrailia, its New Symrna, FL, Duh! I would know because I USED TO LIVE THERE!

  18. 18Ellah

First, a LOT of shark attacks happen, but not everywhere. 75 percent of the world is water. But all beaches are on the border of the country, mostly. The safest places to live are in the middle of the country. If you live in the U.S., unlike me, the safest place with a beach according to me, is Ocean City, New Jersey. At least, don’t go out very very far, or else Great Whites, as far as I know, come out further than most sharks. Well, every where that has a beach, Great Whites come out too far. But I live in Australia, aka best place ever! Sunny Honey! But Meredith, The girls aren’t idiots. They are just unlucky. Poor girl is probobly scared to death. Im even scared. My sis is teaching me to surf soon. Happy Summer!

  19. 19Ellah

DYK sharks have to keep moving forward? so if you ever in a shark attack, like me, get the shark to stop moving, like poking it in the eye or punch them, so they will drown.

Have you ever wondered what a shark attack was like? The feeling? The fear? The vision? The sound? Or even what sharks look like in person? I can tell you.

I was in a small shark attack, in Sydney Australia. Nothing to worry about, just needed 7 stitches. 6 on my left calf, 1 on my right shin. I told everyone that its was not to be wrote about on Google or Yahoo or anything. But I forget the hospital name. I was attacked 2:03 on August 11 2009. It was a 6 ft Bull, so not much damage done. *shiver*. I was in the hospital for 2 days, while they inspected my leg, determind the shark by the bite shapes, stitched me up, and let me heal a little for a day. Actually, it didnt hurt too much. No one worry, Im at my house packing, Im moving to America. Im moving to West Chester, Pennslvania. Happy summer!

  20. 20Ellah

Ahem! Krissy! US is awesome. When I was little, I lived there. When I was 9 i came to australia. now im going to the US. gotta go

  21. 21mrniceguy

Sharks are beautiful and graceful creatures. They have no interest in consuming human beings. It’s wonderful how these beautiful fish are constructed, how they live. I have a number of shark’s jaws on the wall in my study, and I can’t help but gaze at them and sigh and daydream about the next time I’ll be able to go out with my boat and catch some more of these elegant animals to hang on my wall. They really are breath-taking!

  22. 22Ellah

Seriosly mrniceguy? How would you like to be in a attack with one of those “Amazing” and “Breath Taking” creatures? How would you like to have 7 stiches on you legs? How would you like to have a shark send you to the E.R?

Not very much I suppose. These “Amazing” creatures are harmful and killing our kind. If you can gaze at shark jaws all day, come out on a boat with me in Australia, jump out, and take a look at what these “AMAZING” creatures do to your arms and legs. But I must say, its amazing there power and force and hard work to find food. If there were more food at the bottom of the ocean, they wouldnt be KILLING AND DAMAGING AND EATING US! WHAT ARE WE, FISH FOOD! WE ARE HUMANS THAT NEED TO SURVIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE THAT GOD GAVE US! GEEZ! WHAT ARE YOU MRNICEGUY? A *** ****! I dont want to say it but if you look at smelsworse youll know. Grrr!

  23. 23mrniceguy

    Ellah.

You must understand that there is a symbiotic relationship that all living things participate in whether they want to or not.

Sometimes you eat the shark, and sometimes the shark eats you.

People aren’t so scarce that we will feel the effects if a few are eaten by our aquatic friends every once in a while.

Why, I myself, am not above taking the neighbor’s children with me when I go fishing just so I can throw them in the water and use them as bait. Those sharks really respond to all that thrashing about!

If you were smarter, you would be able to appreciate just how magnificent these animals are. I’d bet that you would feel compelled to chuck a small child into the water, just to do a small favor to these majestic fish.

I absolutely adore them, and can’t have enough of them hanging dead on my wall!

  24. 24Ellah

Good those THINGS are on your wall, DEAD!!!! They are THINGS AND ITS!!

  25. 25Ellah

    MRNICEGUY how old are you?

  26. 26mrniceguy

Sorry Ellah. My age has nothing to do with the subject we are discussing. I will be most happy to answer any questions you may posit which are germane to the subject…which is Sharks and that lesser species called Man.

If you really must know, I have no problem with a Shark eating a person. Sharks are the perfect killing machine. They are totally unclouded by rational thought (as we know it), emotion, sexuality, pain, fatigue…they are admirably set up to survive. We on the other hand, die miserably if stranded overnight in a cold place without a fire. We are weak and they are strong, it’s only natural that they would view us as food. What else are we good for? Ellah, if you have any respect for fate, you will hurl yourself and your children at the nearest hungry shark immediately. They are our Shark overlords and you must honor them!

  27. 27Isabellie

    mrniceguy.

You cannot be so admiring to sharks and be willing to throw a child in shark infested waters. Its just not right and sharks are killing. But I am sorry, I do want to know how old you are.

    Ellah.

I do agree. We are not fish food. I do not admire sharks. They are creatures that are harmful and killing. I go against them. Ellah how old are you?

  28. 28Stelleh

Sharks are very harmful creatures. I soooooo dont like them. They are just mean.you r weird mrniceguy

  29. 29mrniceguy

Stelleh, We’ll see who’s weird when the shark overlords are running the world and you are playing the part of the Eloi to the Ubershark’s Morlock and are being served up on a spit, with an apple in your mouth, at some shark luau.

Have you not been paying attention? They are already reclaiming the coastal waters where we used to bath. On this very website, there have been reports of sharks smuggling cocaine, and stealing boat keys, and j-walking…soon they will be marrying our daughters, and serving in the armed forces, and lobbying congress. They are slowly taking over the world! Now is the time to appease them and have them believe that you are a friend, and not a foe. Feed them your children…they make a great peace offering!

  30. 30Toni

You shouldn’t want sharks to be killed. If you read into marine biology you would find that they actually balance out the ecosystem of the ocean. They are not mean, as said before, they have no emotions. They’re just trying to survive and when we enter their world, we have to be prepared to handle a situation like that should it arise. If you knowingly enter the ocean without first preparing yourself to the small chance of a shark attack then yes, that’s your own fault. It is not the shark’s fault. It is just doing what nature intended.
I can admire a shark for its beauty and grace, as well as the terror it brings when it shows its rows of razor teeth. I have a healthy respect for the shark, something everyone should have. They’re not your friends and they’re not your enemies. They just are. If you can’t see the beauty in the killing machine that they are then you really should study biology again. Also, if you thought they were evil then you should read up on Megalodon – a shark estimated to be 15 meters (a/k/a 49 ft) which was said to attack more viciously than the great white. Think about that the next time you step into the water. You have to respect nature. Don’t ignorantly think that nature will respect you if you don’t respect her first.

You people are all stupid. Get lives.

  32. 32libby

so what’s wrong with getting eatn? i mean it’s not like the shrk has it personally for you, i mean if i was to get eaten by such a magnificent animal it would not be anyhting personal..it would just be hungree and i would just be food Ta-ha!
