Big Ol’ Shark Caught in Louisiana

Bill Walters landed what is believed to be the heaviest shortfin mako shark and third-largest of any fish species ever caught on rod and reel in the Gulf of Mexico. The 1,149.5 pound shark was nearly 12 feet long and took Rogers 6.5 hours to reel it in.

The rising number of sharks in the gulf, and near beaches, have taken the fun out of surf fishing for many of us.
Wow, that is by far the biggest Mako I’ve seen. That shark is a beast, and you can bet there are more.

Wtf is wrong with you people? Monster? Seriously? You know if the tables were turned and you looked at this a little closer some could consider you the monster for invading the ocean and disturbing the peace of the creatures that live there. I’m sorry that your hobby happens to interfere with the habitat of sharks, Liz, but really, you should be fully prepared on what to expect. It’s digusting the arroogance of humans and how we assume we have the right to kill whatever gets in our way.

I bet you’ll feel differently if you or someone that you care about is ever hurt or killed by a shark. It’s all about being nice to the sharks until you’re attacked while simply swimming in the ocean, right? I’m not saying that we should kill them all, but if there’s one less killing machine in the water, I’m certainly not going to lose any sleep over it.
