Diver Wrestles 12′ Shark to Save Friend!

Holy Hello! According to the DailyMail, diver Craig Clasen had to wrestle a 12ft tiger shark to protect his friend. For two hours he fought off the giant shark, spearing it seven times, even drowning it before eventually finishing it off with a knife.
Clasen was hunting yellow fin tuna with fellow fisherman Cameron Kirkconnell, photographer D.J Struntz and film maker Ryan McInnis in the Gulf of Mexico when the shark showed up and started circling McInnis.
Clasen grabbed his speargun and well, the rest is history.

Thanks Scott!

What a load of complete cr@p, and what a w@nker. There’s so many things wrong with that story.
1.) If he was “protecting his friend” and the shark was being aggressive, how the f@k would he have time to reload a spear gun 7 times. (and highly unlikely to be carrying 7 spears anyway)
2.) Why is every photo of the most professional quality without speckles from stuff in the water, and considering the “film maker” who took them was probably crapping his pants. Add to that that the photos are copyright to the photographer dude. No mention made of him anywhere. Did he decide to jump in the water with an aggressive tiger shark to capture the action!?
3.) There’s no way a free diver would be “wrestling” with a tiger shark for 2 hours. If it was being aggressive and they see hundreds of these sharks on every dive, plus being Americans, means there’s probably six shotties and a bunch of semi-automatic rifles on board. The boat would circle and protect the swimmers and let looses at the shark.
4.) Did they just ask the shark if they could put a loop around it’s tail to drown it!?
This is pure glorification of hunting a tiger shark. It’s a pity the guy didn’t get eaten. Wish I was there, and I woulda speared him
werd…
Yeah, it reminds me of the old movies where a guy wrestles with a dead shark or snake or whatever, trying to act like the thing is alive. This fag is just attacking a dead shark.
this guy wrestled a shark with a snorkel on??
that guy must be pretty strong to “wrestle” an animal bigger than he is and stronger than most humans, in the pictures the shark is not moving(witch means it is no longer living). in real life that shark would have torn all of them a new ass and then bitten a chunk off
I’m with the first commenter on this.
What a dick.
I wish the shark had eaten him, too.
And slowly.
Like over a two hour period.
Leg by leg.
You numpties! For a start I most certainly do not condone killing innocent animals but to answer you fuzzy logic;
1) He did have to go a re-load his spear gun in order to kill it properly. Would you have preferred that it was shot once and let to die slowly?? now that would be inhumane.
2) The photographer was a professional who was taking pictures of them diving for tuna. When the shark initially attacked or showed CLASSIC signs of a shark attack he got out of the water and only returned when it was safer to do so. Read a few different articles and you will see his name published.
3) What part of the story do you not understand? The shark was readying to attack and so the guy took defensive measures to protect his friend and fired on the shark hoping to kill it with one shot. When this did not happen instead of being a twat and leaving the shark to slowly die he tried for 2 hours to kill it.
4) Again, instead of leaving the shark to die they tried to drown it after a long struggle. 7 spears had slowed it down but not killed it. The humane thing was to kill it.
Finally, I again state that killing innocent animals is barbaric and very un-sporting. I wish they had been able to leave the area without this happening but it did happen and they did their best in my opinion.
Obviously there was no immediate danger… like said before, he had time to reload the speargun. This is absolute terrible news because this was a 12ft sharks, possibly near maturity. The major problem with this situation is that they were SPEARFISHING in open water. This draws sharks, and is a very dangerous sport. If the shark was just circling, I’m sure there was no immediate danger. If the shark had intention to attack, one of them would be missing some body part. As for the attacking mode, I’m impressed that these guys knew shark behavior when most shark biologists are still trying to figure out themselves how and when a shark is going to attack. This is shame that such a majestic animal had to die such an awful death.
I agree with the last comment, too.
I agree with Latina Shark as well! Hello!!! You’re spear fishing! what the hell do you THINK is going to happen? And what about this for “defensive measure” when the shark starts circling- GET OUT OF HIS HOUSE!!!!! this story makes me so mad. What a total douche. This was a total senseless killing. “protecting his friend” my ASS. get out of the water and stop killing things jackass.
I don’t dive or anything but I’m just wondering – where’s the blood if this thing has just been speared and agree – no bubbles, no splash images etc? Hardly images of a wrestle… Those guys either killed it, or found it already dead, and thought they’d try and make some money out of it. Idiots. Poor shark.
yeah i dont know about this story…there is no blood, bubbles, looks like there was no stuggle.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????
Yeah, this sucks. I wish “news outlets” would stop saying “man wrestles shark for 2 hours”. He shot a spear into the shark’s gills then tried to kill it with half a dozen other spears before swimming up to a probably almost dead shark to stab it and put it out of it’s misery. BS!
WHAT A DOUCHEBAG
HE CANT GO DOWN NOW
NOT WITH THREE BARRELS ON HIM
When you have a speargun, or a gun of any sort, loaded, there’s a natural urge to want to want to shoot it…at something! (maybe anything, hence gun crime in the US)
Evasive action – get out of the water.
The bottom line is, these guys did it for fun and to make themselves feel powerful…not something to be proud of or shout about.
They’re dorks.
