Volusia County Reports Its First Shark Bite Of The Year!

Looks like the sharks are getting an early start this year down in Florida. Volusia County, shark bite capital of the world, already has it’s first vicim.
According to Capt. Scott Petersohn, of Volusia County Beach Patrol, a 17-year-old white female was in the water at Ponce Inlet when she was bitten by a shark in rough, murky water at about 5:30 Wednesday evening.
She was treated on the scene for minor bite on her ankle and did not go to the hospital.
Petersohn looked back at recent reports and says they’ve had a few bites this early in the year, but it is still a little unusual for it to happen so soon.

Have you heard about the documentary film “Sharkwater”? Amazing footage and very informative about sharks and the shark-finning industry. It’s sharkwater.com
According to the film, only 5 people a year are killed by sharks.
Interesting shark attack site you have, though, as a surfer. Thanks.
