Sharks Swim Near Surfer in Cornwall?
Friday, March 20th, 2009

This pic was snapped at Praa sands, Penzance close to where there have been several reports of large killer sharks in Cornish waters.
The photos were taken by surfer Dan Harding last weekend. Harding noticed the big black shapes in the water and managed to get get a few shots right before the surfer fell off his board.
No man-munching ensued, so I guess the sharks weren’t that hungry.

Nice snout shape on the right hand object. Porposise maybe? Pretty heavy girth…any other pics? Looks like the surfer was already freaked out taking off with black blobs cruising down the face with him.
Looks almost like killer whales … or whales of some sort. even a porpoise like waz suggested. not very “sharkish” to me… still, that can’t be a comfortable feeling…..
Yeah – not at all shark like.
Probably porpoises being Cornwall.
I am the surfer in the picture. I can tell you for a certain they were dolphins, not a shark! There was a whole pod of them. Check out the link below, I’ve written a blog post about it…

I dive all over the UK, and I can say out of 125 reports of killer sharks off of the UK coast only 5 are unknown. all the others are Dolphines or Basking sharks which are both harmless. Why do reporters who have no clue report Kill sharks whch help spread fear. Even the surfer in the Picture has said this was not a shark, and sharks never go with a wave as it stops them from being able to breath they will always go along a wave to some degree. the source of this article is from the daily telegraph my opinion of them has just dropped to a level where if I was scuba diving I would be dead.
WOW! I’m surprised that you made it through unharmed. What I want to know is whether basking sharks are like all other sharks and are harmful or whether they are really friendly. I have a cousin who teaches scuba diving in Australia and has come across a few basking shark during his time teaching people.
The only good shark is a dead shark.
