Big Ol’ Tiger Shark Caught In South Carolina!

This 11-foot, 500 pound tiger shark was caught by SSgt. Hollingsworth in the Broad River off of Parris Island, SC in a body of water that’s very popular to pleasure cruisers, water skiers, swimmers–and apparently large sharks.
“This is my fourth tiger shark over eight feet long I’ve caught in the past week,” Hollingsworth said in an email.
According to sources at the Florida Museum of Natural History, which keeps records of shark attacks, tiger sharks are second only to great white sharks in the number of recorded attacks on humans.

Sharks are very important for the ecosystem in our oceans. Killing such a great shark as tigers are, is out of order! When do people sea that sharks are so important for the ecosystem! So I’m not happy with this Hollingsworth catch of tiger sharks. It’s a shame he wasn’t caught by one.
Shutup Marc. It’s a shame you weren’t caught by one.
All sharks must die. We must kill all sharks and scary fish without mercy and without reasoning!

I hope you’re being sarcastic ‘mrniceguy’, otherwise YOU are definitely the one who should ‘shutup’…I’d take a ‘scary fish’ like a tiger shark any day as opposed to an ignorant person like you.
Okay, I read some of your other posts, mrniceguy, and they were pretty funny…guess I should shutup…
This ssgt. should go back to the Army and hunt bad guys. Leave the Tigers alone. They are the ocean garbage eaters; they keep our reefs clean of decaying filth and the ecosystem in check. Shame on him!
Mr nice guy has it right ! These sharks are large and dangerous. Let the little ones go to eat the filth and clean the coral, kill these big ones Nice job SSgt.
Im from there and im glad he caught this thing. The place where it was caught is populated by many many people everyday and i was afraid to go in the water after hearing about this. When did sharks become more important than people??? And Bren Keller Parris Island is Marine Corps base not the Army.
I wonder how many of you “shark lovers” actually spend any real time in the water. … You’ll change your tune when you see a large shark glide right under your surf board … but if you’re stuck watching Shark Week on your tv in a “fly over state” like Nebraska, then you’ll never understand what I’m talking about.
Great Job Sgt. Hollingsworth!!! There’s a lot of work for you to do out here in Guam!!! The oceans must be made safe for the surfers. Forget the sharks.
mrniceguy: You’re alright in my book. …
Marc and Brian: Give me a break ladies!!! Put yourselves in the water like I do and then tell me you still love sharks.
What’s up Nicole? How ya’ doin’ Baby?
Wow some of you guys are crazy.
I actually grew up swimming and wake boarding on the river this shark was caught in. Since I was old enough to be in the water(about six months old) I’ve spent my summers swimming off our dock, on a river connected to The Broad for 21 years. I’ve never been attacked by a shark or an aligator. In fact the closest I’ve ever come to something that lives in the river is a baby puffer fish and a sting ray at low tide. If you’re that afraid of what lives in the water, stay out of it! They were there first.
I’m in the midst of watching shark week right now. I live in Charleston, SC. That sucker scares the piss outta me. Nice catch!
Let’s stay at the top of the food chain – not be part of it. Farm them all for food and fertilizer. Feed them to you cats.
huh its agests the law now to keep tiger shark
I just two days ago got bit by a shark on the foot. Fishing them is wrong and finning them is worse. I do not have any hatred toward sharks. We do more harm to them and we cause them more fear then they do to us.
