Another Shark Attack in Texas!

A Texas fisherman is recovering Friday from injuries he sustained after he was bitten by a shark in the Texas coastal waters off Galveston.
Charlie Gauzer was fishing off Galveston Island when he said the shark approached his boat and bit down on his leg. “I started to feel pain…I looked down and I had blood coming out of my leg,” Gauzer said. The shark bit deeper into Gauzer’s leg as the fisherman tried to escape.
“It was gashed pretty good, down to the bone,” Gauzer said. The shark missed the artery but did severe Gauzer’s Achilles tendon.
The attack on Gauzer is the second shark attack near Galveston’s 8 Mile Road Beach in less than a month. A surfer was attacked by a shark at the end of June requiring 60 stitches to repair the gash.

I am confused. The shark approached his boat and bit him. He had a boat but he was not on it? Or did the shark hop in for a chat?
sharks are harmless the only time they hurt people is when they feel threatend os sometimes mistake people as bait fish.i dont suggest u whear bright colors in the water and if u are approached by a shark dont fear it it will not harm u unless u piss it off.
That is “pretty much true” unless your name is Lloyd Skinner and you were recently eaten alive by a hungry White shark in SA.
I am a shark fishing fanatic, and short of dragging a bait bucket in the water while fishing for bait Ive had one shark in 6 years around Galveston approach me with no apparent reason which was at night over 700yards off San Luis Pass while kayaking out by a Tiger the size of my kayak 12′. I won’t say you should be comfortable in the water, but not worry excessive either.
“Anonymous” above suggested no bright colors, colors dont matter to sharks, but any shiny , metalic, items is a badf idea, dont stand in the middle of a school of mullet. If you smell like bait, your asking for an encouter, I always wash my hands and arms with soap and freshwater before taking bait out.
For those who just go swimming, dont go with anything shiny and use lo-scent sunscreen, and use common sense, look around in the tops of waves or when its calm look for abnormal swell pools. The open beach or in the bay in more then chin deep water is no different.
sorry charlie! i bet your wont fish there anymore
i dont hate sharks but do believe they are extremely unpredictable. you wouldnt stop driving your car from knowing drunks are on the road too, but if you saw a car swervin you would aviod it. same should be done when dealing with sharks
