i dont hate sharks but do believe they are extremely unpredictable. you wouldnt stop driving your car from knowing drunks are on the road too, but if you saw a car swervin you would aviod it. same should be done when dealing with sharks

I am a shark fishing fanatic, and short of dragging a bait bucket in the water while fishing for bait Ive had one shark in 6 years around Galveston approach me with no apparent reason which was at night over 700yards off San Luis Pass while kayaking out by a Tiger the size of my kayak 12'. I won't say you should be comfortable in the water, but not worry excessive either.
"Anonymous" above suggested no bright colors, colors dont matter to sharks, but any shiny , metalic, items is a badf idea, dont stand in the middle of a school of mullet. If you smell like bait, your asking for an encouter, I always wash my hands and arms with soap and freshwater before taking bait out.
For those who just go swimming, dont go with anything shiny and use lo-scent sunscreen, and use common sense, look around in the tops of waves or when its calm look for abnormal swell pools. The open beach or in the bay in more then chin deep water is no different.

That is "pretty much true" unless your name is Lloyd Skinner and you were recently eaten alive by a hungry White shark in SA.

I am confused. The shark approached his boat and bit him. He had a boat but he was not on it? Or did the shark hop in for a chat?
