Another human foot has washed up on British Columbia’s south coast. This brings the total to seven, since August 2007.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed that human remains were inside a New Balance running shoe spotted Tuesday afternoon.
One right-foot New Balance running shoe — the only one belonging to a woman — has been found since the first foot was located on Aug. 20, 2007. That shoe turned up May 22 on Kirkland Island, not far from the site of Tuesday’s discovery.
All the other feet were found at several sites on or near Georgia Strait, including remains in a shoe found in August in Pysht, Wash., about 30 miles west of Port Angeles on the Olympic Peninsula.
Police have determined that two of the shoes — found Feb. 8 on Valdez Island and June 16 off Richmond — are a match.
DNA testing linked one foot to a depressed man who disappeared in 2007 but the other remains have not been identified.
Authorities say it appears that all of the feet separated naturally from bodies as they decomposed in the water.

Pieces of meat have been washing up along the New Jersey and Delaware shorelines and officials are still trying to determine exactly what the meat is.
The chunks are from some sort of massive marine creature… the largest piece found so far was 5 feet! Investigators think the meat is from internal organs, possibly from a whale or shark.
What’s got them stumped is how the creature ended up in pieces. Adding to the intrigue: old knife marks discovered on the flesh, suggesting that someone else found this stuff first.
Pieces of the mystery meat are now on ice and will be used for genetic testing. It could be months before those results are known.

Just days before a conference on water quality began in Alberta, Canada last week, residents say a strange fish with two mouths was found at the nearby lake.
Some kids had caught the deformed fish off the dock at Lake Athabasca and turned it over to park wardens.
The Keepers of the Water conference began last Friday and brought together western and northern Canadian aboriginal leaders and environmental activists, all of whom expressed concern with the quality of water in the Athabasca River, downstream from oilsands development in Fort McMurray.
I’d say there’s definitely a problem. Uh, didn’t anyone see The Host?

The monstrous creature that washed up in Montauk, Long Island appears to have been nothing more than a prop from an independent movie about carnies. In other words, it was viral marketing just as everyone initially suspected, until they became convinced it was a dead sea turtle, then the corpse of a dog, then a raccoon, then a pig, and so on. According to Gawker, here’s how the hoax probably went down.

Another severed foot was found… this time a shoe with a human foot inside it washed up on a beach near Port Angeles, WA this past weekend.
The shoe is an Everest brand, size 11. The sock is a Levi’s brand tube sock.
Investigators are hoping that releasing the photo will yield some clues into the deepening mystery of now six severed feet to wash ashore across southwestern British Columbia and now Washington’s Olympic Peninsula.
Five athletic shoes containing human feet have been found along the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland since August 2007. The last one surfaced in June.
Quick, somebody call Dudley Doright!

Earlier this week, Gawker posted a picture of what appeared to be a strange sea creature that was washed on the Montauk beach after a storm. The blog post gave several possible explanations for the origin of the bizarre creature, including a possible viral marketing campaign.
The “Montauk Monster,” as it became known, looks kind of like a skinned dog, but has a dinosaur-like beak and pointy teeth. The photo led to debates on what the creature might be, like dog, raccoon and shell-less turtles (even though such an animal doesn’t exist).
Scientists say the monster can’t be any of these creatures. It seems that its feet are too wide apart to be a raccoon, its eye ridge is not that of a dog and turtles don’t have teeth. And its back feet look like sheep feet, while its front ones have strangely elongated paws.
Scientists believe that either the picture was created using Photoshop or that somebody used latex or something to create the strange animal.
You know… the first time a dead platypus was shown to scientists, they thought it was a fake too. Hmmm…

A human foot was discovered partially submerged in the water near Westham Island in Ladner, B.C.
It’s the fifth human foot police have found in the province in less than a year.
A couple out for a walk spotted a shoe floating in the water and called police. Turns out it was someone’s left foot.
Four right feet, each wearing a sock and sneaker, have also been found in the province since August.
A woman’s right foot was found on the in May, not far where police found the fifth foot Monday. And three other men’s right feet washed up in the Gulf Islands between Vancouver and Vancouver Island… in August, 2 feet were discovered on Gabriola and Jedediah islands and, in February, another foot was found on Valdes Island.
Is there a CSI Canada?

Another right foot wearing a sock and sneaker was discovered washed ashore near Vancouver, the RCMP confirmed Friday.
The foot is the fourth right foot wearing a sock and a running shoe to wash up in the area in less than a year.
The latest foot was discovered on uninhabited Kirkland Island in the Fraser River on Thursday.
The previous three washed up in the Gulf Islands between Vancouver and Vancouver Island. In August, two size 12 right feet were discovered on Gabriola and Jedediah islands, and a third foot was found in February on Valdez Island.
Hmmmm…

A bizarre-looking fish was found in a Brigham City pond. Apparently every single fish in the pond died of an unknown cause, but this particular fish was getting a lot of attention due to its fang-like teeth.
Biologists aren’t sure exactly what kind of fish it is. Aquatics experts don’t believe it’s an alligator, a piranha or a snakehead. Aquatic biologists are leaning toward a lake trout…. with fangs.
In any case… I’d stay out of the ponds in this neighborhood.

Thanks Brenda
