A shark bite at Holden Beach landed another woman in the hospital today.
Julia Anne Mittelbery was swimming in three to four feet of water in the 400 block of Ocean Boulevard West. She apparently felt something bite her left foot in the water, and when she reached the shore, found a bite wound.
She was transported to Brunswick Community Hospital and is in good condition.

Swimmers were ordered out of the water at Fort Fisher Thursday after a shark was spotted very close to shore.
Lifeguards saw what they believed to be a six to eight foot shark swimming in the surf. They evacuated swimmers from the water and red flag was raised to warn beach-goers to stay out of the water. The beach reopened Friday morning.

A huge stingray washed up on the beach around noon yesterday near Ocean Sound Village.
North Topsail Beach police say the stingray weighed several hundred pounds and town maintenance workers had to use a front end loader to bury it.
Lt. Lee McKnight said it’s the biggest ray he’s seen wash up on the beach in his nine years.
McKnight also reminded us that just last week a shark washed up in the same area as well. Hmmm…
