Arms, leg and ribs, oh my… but no head! Bahamian authorities are trying to identify human remains that were found in the belly of a tiger shark caught off the island nation’s coast over the weekend.
The 12-foot shark was hooked 35 miles south of New Providence near the Exuma chain by men who were targeting grouper, not the ocean predator. When the shark bit onto a grouper that was caught by the fisherman, they claim it spit up a human foot. That’s when they decided to reel it in for closer inspection.

The search by air, sea and land for the missing surfer has been called off as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday after firefighters could not spot any sign of him.
Meanwhile, the shark-warning signs at Laniakea Beach, Papailoa Beach and Chuns Reef were removed at 11:30 a.m. yesterday after Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services personnel did not spot any sharks in the area.
Firefighters had resumed the search Thursday morning after a resident found a tattered pair of black shorts on Papailoa Beach and called police, who identified the shorts as belonging to the missing surfer. The missing surfer was described as an Asian male in his mid-thirties and was reported to be wearing black shorts.
Surgeons were able to save his thumb but Raymundo Velasquez still lost half of his index finger after being chomped on by a gator while picking up trash near a lake in South Florida. He was reaching to pick up a plastic bottle when the gator lunged at him, grabbed his hand and pulled him in the water.
Velasquez escaped but said he was “confused” so he made a tourniquet from a plastic bag and plastic tape and continued to work. Huh?
The company he works for, Maia Lawn and Landscape Services, is based in Boynton Beach and when Velasquez said he was reluctant to tell his family what happened his boss said, “Just tell them you had an accident and you’ll be OK.” She also brought him McDonald’s hamburgers, soda and clothes.
A man is recuperating in the hospital after spearing himself in the groin with a speargun in Australia yesterday. Yeouch.
Greg Robertson, 25, was pushed onto the speargun after it got washed out of his hands by a wave. The 6 foot long spear pierced his inside upper thigh, just millimetres from his genitals (note girlfriend’s expression in 2nd pic) and femoral artery, and got lodged there.
The first time spear fisherman had been enjoying a day at the beach with his girlfriend Jacinta Fisher and some of their friends when the accident happened.
A chopper came to rescue Robertson. The spear was surgically removed that night. Hopefully, the dude (and his girlfriend) will make a full recovery.
Here’s some video of the kid who broke into the Alice Springs Reptile Center in central Australia and went on a killing spree, and then fed several of the animals to the resident croc.
A 7-year-old boy broke into a popular Outback zoo, fed a string of animals to the resident croc and bashed several lizards to death with a rock!
The 30-minute rampage, caught on the zoo’s security camera, happened early Wednesday after the boy jumped a security fence at the Alice Springs Reptile Center in central Australia.
The child then went on a killing spree, bashing three lizards to death with a rock, including the zoo’s beloved, 20-year-old goanna, which he then fed to “Terry,” an 11-foot, 440-pound saltwater crocodile.
The boy also fed several live animals to Terry by throwing them over the two fences surrounding the crocodile’s enclosure, at one point climbing over the outer fence to get closer to the giant reptile.
By the time he was done, 13 animals worth around $5,500 had been killed, including a turtle, bearded dragons and thorny devil lizards.
According to the Khaleej Times, Sand Tiger sharks at the soon to open Dubai Mall Aquarium have killed at least 40 smaller reef sharks and have also been aggressive towards the staff. Divers carrying out tasks in the tank, have had their equipment damaged and experienced a few minor injuries due to the aggressive behavior of the sharks.
The aquarium features 33,000 marine animals and is due to open as part of the grand opening of the mall on October 30. Let’s hope there’s still some fish left…
Two men were thrown from their boat on the Suwannee River on Monday evening and one of them is still missing.
The guy driving the boat, Brian Norris, 28, was able to make it to shore and was taken to Shands Medical Center in Gainesville.
Roderick Page, 22, remains missing.
The two men were traveling south near Fowlers Bluff in a 12-foot aluminum johnboat when a large fish jumped out of the water in front of the boat. Norris said he swerved, and both men were thrown into the water.
Wildlife officials have warned boaters about sturgeon jumping out of the water in parts of the Suwannee River. At least five people have been injured this year in encounters with the prehistoric-looking fish, which can grow up to 8-feet long and weigh up to 200 pounds.
