Python Kills 2-Year Old Child!

A 12-foot pet Burmese python broke out of it’s aquarium and strangled a 2-year-old girl in her bedroom Wednesday at a central Florida home. Shaunnia Hare was already dead when paramedics arrived at about 10 a.m.

Charles Jason Darnell, the snake’s owner and the boyfriend of Shaunnia’s mother, discovered the snake missing from its aquarium and went to the girl’s room, where he found it on the girl and bite marks on her head. Darnell, 32, stabbed the snake until he was able to pry the child away.

Darnell did not have a permit for the snake. He has not been charged, but investigators were looking into whether there was child neglect or if any other laws were broken. The snake will be placed with someone who has a permit, pending an investigation into the girl’s death.

Giant Snake Stalking Borneo?

snake_1299734c
Local villagers living along the Baleh river in Borneo believe the mythical Nabau (a terrifying snake more than 100ft in length with a dragon’s head and seven nostrils) has returned after this photo of a gigantic snake swimming along the remote waterways has emerged.

The picture, supposedly taken by a member of a disaster team monitoring flood regions by helicopter, has sparked a huge debate about whether the photos are genuine.

Well, let me just clear this up. The Baleh river is about 1500ft wide at it’s narrowest point. This would make this snake more like 5,000 ft long. So if it is real, I’d suggest getting far, far away from there.

Python Gulps Down Family Chihuahua!

gulp1.jpg
The Peric family watched in horror this week as their much-loved Chihuahua was swallowed by a 16.5 ft long scrub python right on their porch at their home in Kuranda, Queensland, AU.

Despite hurling chairs at the snake, it was undeterred and they were unable to save the family pet.

A pet guinea pig and a cat were also gobbled up by snakes recently. Who’s next on the menu, the kids?

The Perics called local snake expert, Stuart Douglas, to try to save their dog but by the time he arrived, the chihuahua was almost completely swallowed, with only its back legs and tail protruding from the python’s mouth.

Douglas says it had probably stalked the Chihuahua over a period of several days. It only took about 30 minutes to eat the dog, but it will be digesting it for two days. He took the python away.

Snakes on a Drain

jphypo375h.jpg
An 8-foot boa constrictor was found frozen solid by four employees of McGraw-Kokosing Inc., who were working clearing storm debris on company property last week. Worker Chris Miller told the Middletown Journal it wasn’t clear where the snake had come from or how long it had been there but he said it was fresh-looking. Similar snakes were stolen several months ago from tattoo artist Edward Morris, but after seeing a picture of the frozen one, said it wasn’t his. He speculated the snake probably had been released in the last few days and was looking for a warm place to burrow and hibernate. The workers who found it are debating whether to have a pair of boots made, several wallets, or whether to have it stuffed and mounted.

Don’t Forget To Check Under The Hood

A German car rental clerk had to take apart the interior of a van to take out an eight-foot boa constrictor that had escaped from a cloth sack on the passenger seat and slithered behind the dashboard.

Thanks Chris
