Jellyfish That Don’t Sting

Icelandic designer Kristín Birna Bjarnadóttir created these jellyfish lights which have ribbons of reflective fabric hanging from the shade that catch the light from below to create the tentacle effect. No vinegar necessary.

This photo of a lemon shark showing his pearlies won a Best Photography award for photographer Bruce Yates. It was recently selected from more than 20,000 photos as winner of the Oceans division of the international Nature’s Best Photography 2008 Windland Smith Rice Awards. That was a mouthful.
